Technical Requirements
What Do you need?
You will need both a browser and a computer system which meet the following specifications in order to study online.
  • Computer System
  • Internet Browser
  • Browser plug-ins
  • Communicating with academic staff and peers
For PC Users:
Hardware Requirements
  • 128 MB of RAM or more
  • Minimum 100 MB of free Hard Disk space
  • LAN Port or Dial-up modem
  • Color Monitor
  • Resolution (Best viewed in 1024 x 768 compatible)

Software Requirements
  • Windows operating system - Win 98 or above
  • Browsers supported on Windows
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0
  • Mozilla Firefox 2.0
  • Netscape Navigator 8.1
  • Flash Player 8 or above
  • Java Virtual Machine

Internet requirement
DSL connection with minimum 128 kbps speed. However our tests can also be taken on dial-up connection, but it will be slow in loading the page.

Browser Plug-ins
You will also need these plug-ins to access some of your study materials:
Macromedia Flash Player This program is required for accessing the student workspace.

Macromedia Shockwave Player This program is required for accessing some study materials.

Real One Player This program is required in order to receive streaming audio / visual material.

Java Virtual Machine This program is ONLY required For windows XP users.

Adobe Acrobat Reader This program is used to read PDF (Portable Document Format) files, such as subject readings.
